Le microphone Sennheiser AMBEO VR a été conçu en collaboration avec des experts en contenu VR, en affinant le produit avec les membres des communautés audio et VR. Ce microphone a été créé pour répondre précisément aux besoins des créateurs de contenu VR, facilitant l'enregistrement audio dans divers environnements et permettant aux auditeurs de s'immerger complètement dans l'environnement sonore, afin de compléter l'expérience visuelle de la réalité virtuelle.
Le microphone AMBEO VR utilise une configuration ambisonique avec 4 capsules KE 14 disposées en forme tétraédrique, permettant de capturer le son de manière sphérique à partir d'un seul point central. Cela permet d'obtenir une représentation audio complètement sphérique, qui s'aligne parfaitement avec les contenus vidéo VR ou les contenus sphériques à 360 degrés.
