T.J. Troy is a Grammy® Award-winning percussionist from Los Angeles, CA. His technique and musical approach on the Cajon have established him as one of the most expressive and innovative performers on the instrument in the world. This video features a few of the many highlights over a brief 18 month span of his playing career, and displays the cajon in a variety of musical contexts, as a solo instrument, accompanying various ensembles including Mamak Khadem and the Aegea Ensemble, and his use of the cajon in his World Hybrid Drumset configuration. Additionally, T.J.'s personal innovation, the Shaker Brush, developed in conjunction with Schlagwerk Percussion, is featured here in a casual demonstration of the diverse sound palette available from this brilliant implement.
